Bridging the Gap Between Ancient Tradition and Modern Science

Greetings,

I am Masafumi Nakanishi, Director of the Bird's Nest Research Institute.

For the past 11 years, I have dedicated my passion and curiosity to the study of edible swiftlet nests. My journey began at a small company in a quiet town in Fukuoka, Japan. Today, I stand proud as one of the leading experts in this field, committed to sharing the unvarnished truth with you.

The Journey to Truth: The Revelation in Kalimantan

The turning point in my career was a serendipitous encounter with Mr. Thomas on Kalimantan Island, Indonesia. I became the first Japanese individual granted access to their strictly managed nesting sites—an adventure I will never forget.

What I witnessed there was a passion for both hygiene and ecological preservation that went far beyond anything I had ever imagined. The floors were lined with basins of water to catch bird droppings instantly. By refreshing this water regularly, they made constant efforts to prevent waste fermentation and the release of harmful gases.

Equally impressive was the strict code of conduct for those entering the sites. No smokers were allowed, and anyone wearing perfume, hair tonics, or even makeup was barred from entry. Wild swiftlets are incredibly sensitive; even the slightest foreign scent can cause them to abandon their nests. This level of meticulous management is light years ahead of the uncontrolled environments of natural caves. It is a system built on both absolute cleanliness and a deep respect for the birds. It was then I realized: "This is what true quality looks like."

Bridging Tradition and Science

However, my travels also exposed a darker side of the industry—the hidden risks of high nitrites and heavy metals in cave-harvested nests, and the sea of misinformation surrounding them. I knew my mission was to bridge the gap between traditional wisdom and modern scientific evidence.

We have navigated stringent quarantine standards and complex molecular analyses to ensure that only the purest, safest nests reach you. Backed by 11 years of evidence-based research, we are committed to providing "the real thing" that you can trust for your health and beauty.

Our Mission

At the Bird's Nest Research Institute, we work tirelessly to uncover insights that enhance your well-being. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge to see through groundless rumors and choose what is truly best for your body. We sincerely hope that by choosing the truth, you will lead a vibrant, healthy, and radiant life.

About Our Institute:
Where Heritage Meets Science to Reveal the Truth

A Message from the Director

I am Masafumi Nakanishi, Director of the Swiftlet Nest Research Institute.

For the past eleven years, I have dedicated myself with boundless passion and endless curiosity to the mystical wonder that is the edible bird’s nest. What began as an earnest quest within a local company in a small town in Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan has since evolved. Today, it stands as a testament to our position as one of Japan’s leading experts in this field—a role that carries both a profound sense of pride and a vital responsibility to unveil the absolute truth to all of you.

The Journey to Truth: How the Thomas Family Defined  Authenticity

The ultimate turning point in my life was meeting Mr. Thomas on the island of Kalimantan, Indonesia. I still vividly remember the surge of excitement upon being granted access to their strictly managed harvesting sites—a privilege never before extended to a Japanese researcher.

What I witnessed there was a level of passion for hygiene and ecological management that surpassed my wildest imagination. The entire floor of the house was meticulously lined with basins filled with water, positioned to catch the birds' droppings instantly. By changing this water at regular intervals, they went to immense lengths to prevent the decomposition of waste and the emission of harmful gases.

Even more astonishing were the rigorous rules imposed on the individuals entering the facility. Not only was the site strictly smoke-free for all harvesters, but anyone wearing perfume, hair styling products, or cosmetics—even women with the faintest trace of scent—was strictly barred from entry. Wild swiftlets are incredibly sensitive; even the slightest foreign odor can cause them to abandon the site entirely. This uncompromising level of con

trol ensured a pristine environment that stands in stark contrast to the contamination risks often faced by natural caves, reflecting a profound reverence for the swiftlets. It was at that exact moment that I knew with absolute certainty: "his is the authentic value that we must protect.

Serving as a Bridge Between Heritage and Science

Yet, alongside this beauty, I also witnessed the darker side of the industry—the risks of high concentrations of nitrites and heavy metals lurking within cave-harvested nests, and the flood of groundless information in the marketplace. It was then that I defined my true mission: to serve as an unyielding bridge between ancient heritage and modern scientific evidence.

We have overcome numerous hurdles—from the stringent quarantines of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to complex component analyses—to establish a rigorous system that delivers only the absolute truth. Backed by an 11-year journey and definitive scientific data, we will continue to speak the truth, ensuring that you can confidently choose the authentic quality you truly deserve for your beauty and longevity.

Our Mission

At the Swiftlet Nest Research Institute, we are dedicated to relentless research and continuous innovation, all to support your health and well-being every single day.

Our deepest wish is for you to navigate forward without being misled by groundless marketing claims—empowered instead by authentic, scientifically proven knowledge to lead an even more vibrant and radiant life. We invite you to welcome the power of truth, validated by science, to enrich and inspire your journey ahead.
